This is the final Galactic War report. We hope you enjoyed reading these as much as I enjoyed writing them. If you are determined to come out the other side as victor in the Galactic War, here is everything you need to know about Helldivers 2‘s War Status. Good luck out there, Helldiver. Let’s win this war.
Helldivers 2: How to track the War Status
How do Major Orders update?
Major Orders act as the main campaign to follow in Helldivers 2. New orders can target sectors, planets, and factions. As the Major Order typically focuses on one faction, the other faction(s) become less of a priority, but their control continues to prevail. While these planets remain under opposition’s control, not much changes on these somewhat untouched planets.
Every Major Order arrives at 0800 hours (CT), with varying deadlines and arrival dates that depend on the current Major Order’s objective. Completing Major Orders as a united force gives everyone (regardless of whether you contributed to the objective or not) Warbond Medals.
If an order is completed before the timer ends, all Helldivers will wait until High Command (Arrowhead) issues a new Major Order to replace the last one. Alternatively, any failed Major Orders will swiftly move onto the scheduled order, leaving you with less coinage to spend at the Warbond battle passes.
Major Orders typically look at either liberating specific planets to close a sector or executing new missions on a particular planet. Major Orders can introduce new campaigns, enemies, and missions. They can be exclusive to a particular sector or become more common, like the Defend Campaign. Usually, when one sector closes, another opens. But you can often see previously closed sectors reopen. This depends on whether progress is being made in the nearby sector.
Every day, Helldivers are issued a Personal Order. These act as a daily challenge, focusing on kills with specific weapons, Stratagems, or targetting particular enemy types. The Major and Personal Orders reward every Helldivers with the same sum of Warbond Medals for completing their objective(s). Remember that your Personal Order can be done within a 24-hour timeframe. Meanwhile, you can only contribute to a Major Order rather than complete the entire order by yourself.
Standard Helldivers 2 Personal Orders:
- Kill 20 Scout Striders
- Kill 25 Hunters
- Get 200 enemies with the Machine Gun
- Kill two Bile Titans
- Get 10 kills with the Expendable Anti-Tank
- Safely extract from a mission three times
Sector and planet status: How liberation progress works
You can watch Liberation progress at all times from the Galactic War Console. You can see all active Helldivers on any open planet, alongside the planet and sector liberation statuses. Each sector includes opened and closed planets.
You should refer to whether nearby planets are grayed out. This signifies that the planets are inaccessible and tells us the reason based on their visible percentage. The planet can either be in our control, later affected by invading forces (Defend Campaign) or have a zero percent liberation status that we will later liberate (Liberation Campaign) after successfully freeing a nearby planet from the faction’s control.
What is described above is Helldivers 2’s invisible and unspoken rule on the Galactic War console. These are the supply lines. Supply lines describe the hidden pathways connecting planets to one another. They explain how and why some planets open across different sectors.
For devoted Helldivers to the Major Order, you can head onto Trivial difficulty to complete missions and extract as soon as possible. This will quickly boost the liberation percentage for that specific Major Order planet. While this removes the challenge and entertainment of the game, the planet’s liberation progress ascends in our favor, thus increasing our odds of acquiring the large Warbond Medal reward within the allotted time.
Another tactic is for all Helldivers to target a specific planet at a time. This drastically increases the liberation progress, helping the community quickly clear planets and contribute to the Major Order. This is a common tactic used in the community and explains why a faction may be ignored for some time.
How Galactic War progress works in Helldivers 2
The Galactic War percentage is the accumulated data of all players, taking into account whether they completed the primary and secondary objectives, cleared Outposts, or failed their mission. Each factor will increase or decrease planetary liberation. All progress begins at zero percent, and mission completions fill the bar until the planet is liberated.
All completed missions count toward the liberation progress bar, adding to the overall Galactic War progress. Leaving any missions early or failing to complete objectives within the 40-minute timer will push back planet liberation. Everyone can see the same progression status of the ongoing Galactic War.
The Galactic War progress makes Helldivers 2 an incredibly unique experience and one that is in constant development, so long as Arrowhead doesn’t retire from the industry. Helldivers 2 follows a live-service formula where your progress is affected directly by other players.
