Call of Duty rostermania: Pre-Black Ops 4

Plenty of roster changes are on the way before the Black Ops 4 season begins.

The WWII season officially came to end on Sunday when Evil Geniuses won the 2018 Call of Duty World League Championship.

The Black Ops 4 CWL reveal event on Sept. 19 provided a ton of information about the upcoming season. The five-vs-five format was confirmed, so several teams will need to make roster moves heading into 2019. The game’s first tournament will be CWL Las Vegas on Dec. 7 to 9.

This article will serve as a compilation of all the confirmed roster changes and notable free agents from major teams in the competitive Call of Duty scene.

Confirmed roster changes

Xotic replaces Lacefield on Evil Geniuses

John “Xotic” Bruno has replaced Andres Lacefield on Evil Geniuses’ Call of Duty team, the organization announced on Nov. 15. Xotic will now compete alongside Tyler “FeLo” Johnson, Renato “Saints” Forza, Jevon “Goonjar” Gooljar-Lim, and Matthew “Royalty” Faithfull.

G2 signs former Echo Fox, Envy, and coL players

G2 Esports officially returned to Call of Duty esports on Oct. 25 by signing Martin Chino, Jacob “Decemate” Cato, Richard “Ricky” Stacy, Rasim “Blazt” Ogresevic, and Brice Faccento.

Classic returns to Luminosity

Luminosity signed Nicholas “Classic” DiCostanzo on Oct. 16. He’ll compete alongside Josiah “Slacked” Berry, Johnathan “John” Perez, Matthew “FormaL” Piper, and Peirce “Gunless” Hillman, who officially joined Luminosity on Oct. 10.

Enigma6 revamps its roster with a Halo pro

 Jordon General will be competing alongside Kade Jones, Matthew “Kismet” Tinsley, Steven “Diabolic” Rivero, and two-time Halo world champ Bradley “Frosty” Bergstrom on Enigma6, the organization announced on Oct. 11.

Evil Geniuses reveals its new roster

Tyler “FeLo” Johnson, Renato “Saints” Forza, Andres Lacefield, Jevon “Goonjar” Gooljar-Lim, and Mathew “Royalty” Faithfull joined Evil Geniuses on Oct. 11.

JKap and aBeZy join eUnited

Jordan “JKap” Kaplan and Tyler “aBeZy” Pharris will play for eUnited in Black Ops 4, the organization announced on Oct. 11. They’ll compete alongside Alec “Arcitys” Sanderson, James “Clayster” Eubanks, and Preston “Prestinni” Sanderson. 

Methodz joins FaZe Clan

FaZe Clan announced Anthony “Methodz” Zinni as the team’s fifth player for the Black Ops 4 season on Oct. 8. Methodz, who became a free agent on Sept. 27 following the reveal of OpTic’s new roster, will now compete alongside Dillon “Attach” Price, Preston “Priestahh” Greiner, James “Replays” Crowder, and Tommy “ZooMaa” Paparatto.

Splyce signs four NA players

Splyce has completed its lineup for the upcoming season. After signing Lamar “Accuracy” Abedi on Oct. 2 and Daniel “Loony” Loza on Oct. 3, Splyce confirmed the additions of Ulysses “Aqua” Silva and Donovan “Temp” Laroda on Oct. 4. These four NA players will compete alongside European veteran Jordan “Jurd” Crowley in Black Ops 4.

Team Reciprocity enters the CoD esports scene

A new organization will be competing in Black Ops 4 with an international lineup. Team Reciprocity officially signed Thomas “Tommey” Trewren, Bradley “Wuskin” Marshall, Sean “Seany” O’Connor, Zach “Zed” Denyer, and Denholm “Denz” Taylor on Oct. 1.

OpTic Gaming reveals its 2019 lineup

The Green Wall has a new roster to cheer for in the upcoming season. Damon “Karma” Barlow has returned to OpTic Gaming, and the organization also signed Tommy “TJHaLy” Haly and Brandon “Dashy” Otell on Sept. 27. They’re set to join Seth “Scump” Abner and Ian “Crimsix” Porter on OpTic for the start of the Black Ops 4 season.

100 Thieves completes its roster

Austin “SlasheR” Liddicoat and Ian “Enable” Wyatt officially joined 100 Thieves on Sept. 26. This completes 100 Thieves’ lineup for the Black Ops 4 season after Kenny Williams and Maurice “Fero” Henriquez joined on Aug. 28 and Sam “Octane” Larew followed suit on Aug. 31.

EG’s roster joins Huke on Team Envy

Team Envy stunned the Call of Duty community on Sept. 22 by acquiring Evil Geniuses’ world championship roster. Patrick “ACHES” Price, Bryan “Apathy” Zhelyazkov, Adam “Assault” Garcia, and Justin “SiLLY” Fargo-Palmer will now compete alongside Cuyler “Huke” Garland on Team Envy in Black Ops 4. Embry “Bevils” Bevil also joins Envy as the team’s head coach for the 2019 season.

Red Reserve adds Bance

Following the announcement that the 2019 season will feature five-vs-five competition, Red Reserve wasted no time revealing their newest player. Ben Bance, who was officially released by Splyce on Sept. 13, joined Red Reserve for Black Ops 4 on Sept. 19.

Notable free agents

  •  Adam “GodRx” Brown, Casey “Pandur” Romano, and Christopher “Parasite” Duarte: GodRx tweeted on Sept. 10 that he’s no longer a part of Ghost Gaming. Parasite later said that Ghost Gaming is pulling out of Call of Duty esports and the entire roster is now free agents.
  • Stephen “Vortex” Allen, Billy “Hawqeh” Harris, and Jordan “Reedy” Reed: Epsilon announced on Aug. 31 that Vortex, Hawqeh, and Reedy have all been released from the organization. David “Dqvee” Davies, on the other hand, will remain under contract with Epsilon moving into Black Ops 4
  • Joshua-Lee “Joshh” Shephard: Joshh tweeted on Aug. 24 that he’s no longer a part of Splyce. 
  • Dylan “MadCat” Daly: MadCat and Splyce parted ways on Aug. 23, and the European veteran is now a free agent.
  • Michael “SpaceLy” Schmale, Chance “Maux” Moncivaez, Nicholas “Proto” Maldonado, and Michael “MajorManiak” Szymaniak: Following a top eight placing at CoD Champs 2018, SpaceLy tweeted on Aug. 20 that his team’s contracts with Elevate ended. It’s unclear if these players will remain together for Black Ops 4 or if they’ll go their separate ways.
