There are either five or six companions you can recruit in GreedFall 2. The official GreedFall 2 roadmap lists six, but the devs also published a blog that includes only five, so it’s currently unclear how many characters you can unlock.

To obtain all of these companions (except one), you need to fully finish the prologue and your initiation ritual. Once you have, you can recruit four companions throughout the course of The Escape quest. Here’s a breakdown of how to unlock every companion while playing GreedFall 2.

NameAppearanceHow to unlock
NílanNilan in Greedfall 2. He joins your party right away as a fellow member of the Teer Fradee tribe. There are no extra steps you need to take to recruit him since he’s your ally right from the start of the game.
FaustaFausta in GreedFall 2. Fausta can be found in the prison you wake up in after the conclusion of the prologue. You can talk with her a bit while you’re captured, and when you’re rescued shortly after, she joins your party as you begin The Escape quest.
AlvidaAlvida in GreedFall 2. You first meet Alvida while trapped on a boat after completing the prologue. She joins your party after rescuing you from prison shortly after, so you can unlock her by starting The Escape quest. This quest begins automatically once you complete your ritual in the prologue.
SybilleSybille in GreedFall 2.You meet Sybille upon escaping the prison. She doesn’t join your group until you fully exit the prison sewers, so you need to work through a fair bit of The Escape quest to recruit her. Once you exit the sewers to complete the Escape from Olima part of this quest, she joins your group.
LudwigLudwig in GreedFall 2.Ludwig can be found waiting for you right at the sewer exit once you escape prison. You need to progress through a decent chunk of The Escape quest to reach him. He officially joins your party once you exit the sewers to finish the Escape from Olima portion of this quest.

In addition to these core characters, there’s also one temporary party member who you have access to for a short period of time. Massive spoilers for the end of the prologue are ahead, so skip the next section if you don’t want to know about them just yet.

Like Nílan, Shéda‘s also a member of your party right away. She’s a key character throughout the entire opening journey all the way until you complete the ritual with Nílan. When the three of you are kidnapped right after this, she falls sick on the boat ride and ultimately perishes. She seems to be permanently deceased, but in the event this somehow changes later in the story, we’ll update the info here. This occurrence could be why the roadmap says six companions but the blog only lists five.

According to the GreedFall 2 roadmap, there are more companions already planned to come in future updates. As more GreedFall characters arrive and as we unlock additional allies, they’ll be added here so you can work on unlocking new recruits for your party.
